A bullet banjo is a one string musical instrument that is played with a finger slide and a pick. Historically known as Diddley Bows, these instruments offer a no fret, no hurt fingers alternative to traditional banjos and guitars.
With just one string, you can't play a wrong note. You can start playing melodies by ear right away. No frets to learn, all you need is your ear, a finger slide, and a pick.
Cigar Box Banjos are perfect for blues, folk, and other genres that utilize simple melodies and improvisation. They're also great for creating unique, experimental sounds.
Our banjos are handcrafted with care using high-quality materials. Each instrument is one-of-a-kind, built to last and resonates with warm, rich tones. Each Banjo is crafted with a pair of .44 Magnum brass casings for both the upper and lower bridge.
We offer a variety of one-string Banjos, each with its own unique character. New inventory is added weekly, so be sure to join our newsletter to stay up to date.
Every Smoky Mountain Bullet Banjo comes with a custom 3D printed display stand, a 2 inch finger slide, and a pick.

Return and Refund Policy
Smoky Mountain Bullet Banjos - Return Policy
We understand that sometimes things don't work out as planned. Here at Smoky Mountain Bullet Banjos, we want you to be happy with your unique, handcrafted cigar box banjo. If for any reason, you are dissatisfied with our product, please call us or email us.
Due to the one-of-a-kind nature of our instruments, we are unable to offer a full refund on returns. However, we are committed to your satisfaction and offer the following options:
- Exchange: If your Banjos fails due to craftsmanship, you may exchange it for another Cigar Box Banjo of equal value within 14 days of receipt. Shipping costs for the return will be the responsibility of the customer.
- Store Credit: If you are unable to find another Cigar Box Banjo that suits your needs, we will issue you store credit for the full purchase price of the original Banjo (minus any original shipping costs). This credit can be used towards a future purchase at Smoky Mountain Bullet Banjos within one year of issuance.
To be eligible for an exchange or store credit:
- The Cigar Box Banjo must be returned in its original, undamaged packaging.
- You must include a copy of your original receipt with your return.
- You must contact Smoky Mountain Bullet Banjos within 14 days of receipt to initiate the return process.
We cannot accept returns for:
- Banjos that have been damaged due to misuse or neglect.
- Banjos that have been modified or altered in any way.
Please note: While we reserve the right to deny any return or exchange request that does not meet the above criteria, we are dedicated to customer satisfaction and will make every effort to rectify the issue.
